AJ Royal Pendant light
The AJ Royal pendant light by Louis Poulsen creates a soft, glare-free light. In the smaller version of AJ Royal pendant lamp (37 cm diameter), an acrylic disc shields the bulb downwards. This acrylic disc for the small AJ Royal fixture is also available as a spare part at TAGWERC Design STORE.
The AJ Royal pendant lamp from TAGWERC Design STORE goes back to a design by the well-known architect and designer Arne Jacobsen. The Dane constructed a series of buildings for which he also designed furniture and lighting. One such project was the Royal Hotel of Scandinavian Airlines SAS in Copenhagen. As one of the then unique design hotels, it opened its doors in 1960. In addition to the AJ lighting series, the pendant lamp AJ Royal was created, which was named after its first location. Being a design classic, the AJ Royal is run in the TAGWERC Design STORE.

The special feature of the AJ Royal pendant lamp designed by Arne Jacobsen: ring lamellas allow the light to radiate upwards. The hemispherical lampshade is molded from drawn aluminum and given a wet-painted, white finish. All sizes of the AJ Royal pendant luminaires are equipped with a diffuser, thus providing an absolutely glare-free light and can also be suspended higher. The diameter of the large AJ Royal lamp is 50 centimetres and corresponds to the original size from its year of origin.
Luminaires were an integrative field of activity of designer Arne Jacobsen. In the decades of his career, the native Dane designed a variety of lighting objects, some of which are still produced as licensed re-editions by the manufacturers &tradition and Louis Poulsen. These luminaires are strongly related to the designer’s reduced design language, but are more organic than his buildings.
