TARAXACUM 88 S2 Pendant light
Breathtaking, unique, extravagant – the Taraxacum 88 S2 is a light object that perfectly combines functionality, form and fascination. Designer Achille Castiglioni was already 70 years old when he designed the Taraxacum 88 S2 pendant light in 1988. In the design of the Taraxacum lighting series, the experience gained over decades and the knowledge of the industrial designer about shape and design, materials and manufacture were incorporated. While the early Castiglioni lamp designs were previously made by other manufacturers, the Taraxacum 88 S2 pendant lamp was manufactured by Flos from the outset.

Inspired by the dandelion, presented by a dandelion blossom, Archille Castiglioni named his round light sculpture after the botanical name of the dandelion, Taraxacum. Like the dandelion, which sends its seeds, reminiscent of flight gliders, out into the world with a breath of wind, the Taraxacum 88 S2 pendant light directs its light rays out and illuminates its surroundings. The viewer does not only succumb to the special charm of the Taraxacum 88 S2 pendant light when it lights up. The very shape of the lamp embodies elegance, lightness and luxury. This applies to the Taraxacum 88 S2 pendant lamp as well as to its little sister, Taraxacum 88 S1 and the wall and ceiling lamp Taraxacum 88 C / W.
But the Taraxacum 88 S2 pendant lamp does not only convince visually. Your design is as simple as it is ingenious. Because, 20 parts made of polished aluminum in the shape of triangles form the heart of the Taraxacum 88 S2, the almost round luminaire body. The triangles are held together mechanically by metal bars. With a diameter of 105 centimeters, the pendant lamp is equipped with a textile-covered power cable of 6 meters in length. A steel relief rope and such a canopy are robust enough to keep the 14.2 kg Taraxacum 88 S2 light in balance. The luminaire body is equipped with 120 globe bulbs, which are arranged all around and underline the spherical shape. The LED globe bulbs are available separately and can be purchased in the TAGWERC Design STORE.
The special design, paired with sophisticated technology, make the pendant lamp Taraxacum 88 S2 by Flos the ideal, light-giving companion.
